Punctuality Letter

July 2017

Dear Parents and Carers,

Please note there is a change in our policy on punctuality.

Most children arrive at school on time at 8.50am and we appreciate this. However there is a small group who regularly drift in between 8.50am and 9am and  a smaller group who arrive even later. This is a particular problem in KS2 where children come to school on their own. We are sure that most of these late children leave home in good time.

As soon as the children reach class the day’s routines begin, the register is taken and teachers start the first lesson. Children who arrive late disrupt both the teacher and their peers’ learning and this is not fair. They also miss out on their own learning.

As of Tuesday, November 10th once the doors which classes go into school by are locked (soon after 8.50am) late children will have to come to the main office where we will take their names and ask them why they were late.  We understand that a child may be late as a ‘one off’ but persistent lateness is not acceptable and where this is the case we will be contacting you to address this.

Thank you for your support,
