Sports Funding

Sports Funding

We have received £9896 funding for sports in 2016-2017 from the government. This will be spent as follows:

  • On experienced, high quality PE coaches to support our sports programme across the school
  • On an experienced, high quality cricket coach to teach cricket in Years 5 and 6
  • On swimming lessons for all Year 4 children
  • On taking children to a range of events  as participants (for example for able and talented children to compete against other schools)
  • On taking children to a range of events as spectators (for example to watch cricket at the Oval)
  • To introduce clubs for sports such as street gym and gymnastics which will appeal both to  girls and boys
  • To develop girls’ football
  • To continue to provide bike  training

 

Impact 2015-2016

  • Children  are taught sports to a high standard both by coaches and school staff
  • Through assemblies and other events, most children have a greater awareness of the value and  range of sports available eg Paralympic sport, women’s football
  • The take up of after school sports reflects and celebrates our school’s diversity
  • The take up of after-school sports is very high
  • There was a very high take up of scooter and bike training
  • The football team improved and is set to do really well in 2016 - 2017
  • Staff are more confident in teaching PE
  • Girls football and netball were introduced successfully
